Daredevils
They had been best friends since they were about five when Ian’s father came to work at Hughes Investigations with her Da. Ten years later, when his parents were killed in a car wreck, Ian moved in with Caela and her father. That lasted a year before he got early acceptance to MIT and headed to school. He’d moved back with his shiny new BS degree and started his grad work at the university Caela attended for her undergrad in the city.
He had his apartment but still spent most of his time at Caela’s penthouse now that she had her place—right next door to her father’s. Caela was the only family Ian had left. There were probably distant cousins back in India on his mother’s side, but his father had been the only son of an only son. It didn’t bother Ian because he counted Caela and her father as family. Until they’d slept together the first time, Ian and Caela had pranked people by telling them they were brother and sister. His dusky skin, dark curls, and melted chocolate eyes next to her pale freckles, honey-blond hair, and bright green eyes confused others.
